No Inspiration to be Healthy? Try this!

Reigniting Your Health Inspiration

There can be countless practical challenges facing us in our pursuit of vibrant health. It might be a lack of time, money or confusion around what exactly is best to do, but the one my clients come face to face with most consistently is lack of desire. There isn’t any motivation or inspiration to exercise or make healthy meals. 

Remember there is always a vibrational explanation to everything you are experiencing with your health. If lack of motivation is present and it’s not the experience you want to have, you can do something about it. You have the power to lovingly shift your energy in a new direction and therefore create a new experience of being healthy for yourself. 

The purpose of this article is to share actionable strategies to reignite your inspiration for health. 

Motivation versus Inspiration?

There is a difference! And both are valuable. Understanding the difference may help you deliberately tune into what supports different phases of your health journey the most. 

Motivation is defined as a reason to act in a certain way. Which can be intrinsic or extrinsic. Reasons to be healthy might be things like: 

  • To live a long life
  • To achieve an image you prefer
  • To have energy for the things you enjoy in life
  • To be able to move freely and easily around the world
  • To be a vessel for more energy to flow through
  • To perform in a certain sport or activity
 

Because motivation is about the reasons to act, consequently we know it comes through the filter of the logical mind. Motivation is connected to your mind’s capacity to create.

Inspiration is defined as the quality of being imbued with spirit to act; as if by supernatural or divine influence. Inspirations to be healthy might be things like:

  • Making a new recipe that excites you
  • Trying out a dance class for the fun of it
  • Listening to a health podcast that dropped in your lap
  • Walking your dog at a different time of day
  • Not following a recipe at all
  • Stopping at a cafe you’ve never seen before
 

Because inspiration is about the inner instinct to act, we can confidently say that it comes from a place beyond the mind. Whether we are calling that Source, our guides, our Inner Being, it is not logical. 

Leverage Motivation First

As conscious creators, we can leverage the power of both motivation and inspiration. 

I find the most lifestyle transformative path starts with leveraging motivation first and then allowing your motivated action to open the space for inspiration to take over. 

Action step: Clarifying the reasons you want to be healthy is a wonderful step on the journey. Simply ask yourself:

  • Why do I want to be healthy?
  • What do I think being healthy will add to my life experience?
  • Why do I value being healthy? 
 

Start by taking healthy action because of the reasons you desire to be healthy.

Strategy 1: Start with a Plan

Plans are amazing! The reason we are so drawn to diets and exercise plans is primarily because they help activate our motivation. They offer you a possible pathway to your desire, and your mind loves this! 

So leverage this. Let yourself be excited about a new exercise plan or a new meal plan…or a new vibrational health plan 😉 

Oftentimes having a plan is the path of least resistance for the larger lifestyle and habit changes we are seeking to make. The trick is to be flexible and stay conscious along the way. 

Strategy 2: Expand Your Plan

When you decide to start walking this health journey with awareness and consciously creating radiant health there will inevitably be a point along the way when something interrupts your perfect plan. 

This might be a disruption in routine, a life event but most often it is usually our own inner limitations. As soon as you reach the edge of your vibrational comfort zone, you are going to be met with resistance that sounds a lot like “I don’t want to or I don’t feel like it.”

Most people’s initial response is self-judgment and the thought “this isn’t good!” Well I would love to flip that narrative because I promise you, it’s a good thing! You’ve uncovered the opportunity to release resistance. 

It’s time to expand your plan to include the vibrational shifts required to transform your body and health. 

Awareness of Resistance

All of our vibrational resistance comes on some level from our fear. We can’t shift it if we can see it, so start by exploring what the resistance is about. 

*Action Step: When you catch the “I don’t want to”…ask yourself: 

  • Do I feel relaxed or tight in my body right now?
  • What do I believe about myself right now?
  • What is my heart craving to feel right now?
 

Health plans are great until they are met with our own inner resistance. Expand your plan to include strategies that help you move through the patterns of internally created resistance. 

Strategy 2: Expand Your Plan

Strategy 4: Choose Your Commitment

On our group coaching call last week, the idea of commitment came up and a handful of women immediately cringed. Ugh commitment! For most people, just the idea activates a whole punch of resistance. 

And when commitment to your health is felt and understood as an obligation, of course we will resist it! There’s no true happiness at the end of a journey filled with obligation. It doesn’t work that way.

There’s a couple powerful ways I teach to shift a feeling of obligation.

  1. Tune into the feeling of devotion. A profound dedication to something. An honoring of the energy you give this thing. What if the mindset shift was to one of honoring your body instead of changing it? Honoring your health instead of fixing it? Treating yourself with love, appreciation and dedication instead of trying to mould it into a perfect image? When you walk your health journey with the vibration of care and devotion, your health will reflect this.
  2. Shifting the focus of your commitment. We can easily choose commitments that are more aligned with our values around the kind of person we wish to be. When we do this, we take the focus away from the external condition and onto the quality of being. This is a much more impactful place to create from. 
Conclusion

If your current commitment to health feels like an obligation, maybe it’s time to:

  • Tune into what being devoted to your health feels like
  • Expand your plan and choose a new commitment!
 

Here are what I’ve found to be the most powerful commitments we can make that result in radiant health:

  • I am committed to taking care of my body the best I can in a moment
  • I am committed to being loving and compassionate with myself no matter what
  • I am committed to believe in myself and my radiant health
  • I am committed to eating and moving my body with intention

If your commitment is draining you, it doesn’t necessarily mean it’s the wrong action–it definitely means you’re ready for a mindset shift! (This would be the perfect time to apply strategy 2 and expand your plan).

In conclusion, reigniting your health inspiration involves leveraging both motivation and inspiration to create a vibrant and healthy lifestyle. By starting with a plan, expanding it to overcome resistance, cultivating a supportive environment, and choosing a commitment that aligns with your values, you can transform your health journey.

Remember, the key is to approach your health with devotion and love, focusing on the quality of being rather than external conditions. This mindset shift can lead to total freedom in your body and an experience of radiant health better than you can ever imagine!
