It was 2010 when I read my first Abraham-Hicks book and I’ve been hooked ever since. To me, it felt like a whole new world opening up, and I understood that once you experience the power of leveraging the Law of Attraction in your life, there’s no turning back. You just can’t ignore the alignments and synchronicities that begin to unfold when you live on purpose. You can’t unknow the power of your thoughts, your beliefs, and your emotions. And the expansion is endless! As you practice Living Your Truth, you become filled with the strength of confidence that comes from an unwavering trust in life and in yourself. But let me tell you…getting to that unwavering place can be a wild and winding journey. Here are 5 Things I wish I knew before I started manifesting…
1. You don’t have to be happy all of the time.
When I first learned that my vibration creates my reality by drawing in what I put out there, my first instinct was to try to be happy all of the time. Makes sense, right? Be positive, exude joy and life will be just that! I quickly found myself trying to put a bow on every situation that came along and guess what? Some things just aren’t happy or fun. I learned that I can’t pretend to be happy all of the time. Ignoring negative feelings is the opposite of living in acceptance- it is the embodiment of resistance. And if you want to get stuck somewhere, just dig in your heels and push against life. To stay in alignment- acknowledge what is true in the moment and allow it. Let it be. We all wish we could spend each day in perfect total joy, but the reality is along the way, we feel anger, sadness, frustration, boredom. These aren’t failures, there is tremendous value in every emotion…when we welcome them.
Practical Tip
Acknowledge Your Emotions: Instead of forcing yourself to be happy all the time, allow yourself to feel and acknowledge all emotions. This helps you stay in alignment with your true self.
2. It really is about the journey.
After having manifested nearly everything I wanted when I wrote my first life vision script, I can now look back and clearly see that the process of becoming was truly my favorite and the most satisfying part. So many experiences, a-ha moments, new awarenesses, synchronicities, all the fun happened on my way to those manifestations. It’s so much more than just having what you desire- it’s transforming into the person that makes it all so worthwhile. And the more I’ve learned to enjoy that process, the more beautiful and rich the whole thing becomes.
Practical Tip
Prioritize the Journey: Focus on the process of becoming rather than just the end goal. Celebrate small wins and learn from every experience along the way.
3. Trust the process
Deliberate manifesting is just like every other skill or art form- it takes a lot of practice. I judged so much of my journey as being too slow, not getting somewhere fast enough, should be here or there. In reality, I was growing and shifting in the most perfect way. Unbeknownst to me at the time, I was coming into alignment with the fullness of my potential at exactly the right pace. It’s supposed to take time for things to manifest. (back to point 2 about the journey) Ultimately, I wish I had known that the time it took for things to manifest was the time it needed to take and the pattern of being hard on myself (in all the many ways) was slowing things down tremendously. The easier I am on myself, the easier I manifest. Period.
Practical Tip
Choose trust over judgment: Replace a thought of critical judgement of where you are with a reminder of all the ways you are “getting it right,” or thinking/ acting and feeling on purpose.
4. There’s a difference between excitement and inspired action.
When I first started manifesting, I’d heard that I should follow excitement, enthusiasm. And I had so many great ideas! I would find myself bopping all over the place chasing fun ideas and trying to make things happen. I realized that instead, I could let the excitement simmer- I didn’t need to take immediate action on every inspired idea. The more I let myself feel the energy of excitement, the more it would evolve on its own and lead me to the true inspired action. Ideas would grow and change and completely morph into something completely different than those first sparks, and then when I took action…bam the results were lightning quick. In conversation, they call it the “pregnant pause” – inaction that is bursting with expectation.
Practical Tip
Define for yourself: Write down: what does excitement feel like to you? What does inspiration feel like to you?
5. You don’t have to learn everything on your own!
There’s always been this fiercely independent part of me that thinks I am supposed to learn and figure things out on my own, that I am somehow not as good if I get help. That is 100% my ego talking and keeping me small. I have worked with life coaches, relationship coaches, business coaches, spiritual coaches and I know I am a better manifestor when I open myself to be supported.
Practical Tip
Be open to receiving support: Simply state “I am open to receive the most aligned support for me.” And wait for the person or teaching that speaks to your soul, there’s no need to force anything, you’ll know when an opportunity is right for you by how it feels.
The world is full of teachers, mentors, courses, books, guides and coaches. And while no one can replace the miracle of walking your own path, they can certainly help by pointing you in the right direction. Those gentle nudges, careful words of support, and yes, being called out on our own BS can make the journey a whole lot easier.
